August 20th
The Bingham-Waggoner Estate

The Bingham-Waggoner Estate opens in April, so we will go on the 23rd. We will meet at the LBM and leave at 9:30 a.m. The estate is described as A living history of life in mid-America for the affluent in 1900, restored to its heyday. The estate is named for the families of George Caleb Bingham, and the Waggoners, who bought a mill in Independence in 1867. They moved into the estate in the 1890s and commissioned a large addition. To see an exterior picture go to www.bwestate.org. A tour guide will impart fascinating facts about all past residents of the house. Admission is $5 for adults, $4.50 for seniors, and $2 for children ages 6-16. Only the lower floor is accessible to wheelchairs.
