Currently, there is one biography of Gerald Durrell, aside from the many and various writings which he left regarding himself. Additionally, Gerald's first wife, Jacqueline, wrote a book after their split-up entitled 'Beasts in My Bed', published in 1967, a lurid title which would, from all reports, appear to belie the actual content. And, finally, Douglas Botting's authorised biography was published in 1998, and is clearly a laobur of love. It's also a fascinating read which comes highly recommended to anyone who has enjoyed Gerald's work.
